Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
PreviewThumbnail.com ("we", "us") lets you see how a YouTube thumbnail and title look in a YouTube-style feed. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we keep only what the tool needs, thumbnail copies are deleted after 24 hours, we don't sell anything about you, and we don't run ads or tracking.
Your thumbnails and titles
Previews are built in your web browser. When you run a preview, we save a small, reduced-size copy of that thumbnail along with its title, the channel name shown, and your email if you're signed in. We use these only to understand how the tool is used and to prevent abuse. They're visible only to us, never published or shared, never used to train AI, and automatically deleted after 24 hours. The full-size image is never uploaded.
Your browser also keeps your most recent thumbnail and title in its local storage so they're still there next time; you can remove them by clearing this site's data in your browser.
Information we collect
- If you don't sign in: to enforce the daily free-test limit, we count tests per internet connection. We store only a one-way scrambled code (a salted hash) made from your IP address, never the address itself, plus that day's count, and delete these after a week. Your browser stores your light/dark preference.
- If you sign in with Google: we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google, plus a unique account ID. We use these to create your account, show your name and picture in your previews, and keep your plan on every device you sign in on. We never see your Google password.
- Your YouTube channel: when you sign in with Google, with your permission we use the YouTube API Services to read your channel's name and profile picture, so your previews match your real channel. We save only that name and picture link on your account and refresh them each time you sign in. We don't access your videos, subscribers, analytics or anything else, we never post anything, and we never store Google's access token (it expires on its own within an hour). You can remove our access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Google's handling of this data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
- Usage: for signed-in accounts we store how many free tests you've used today, so the daily limit works across devices.
- Payments: payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe tells us which plan you bought, and we store your plan along with Stripe's customer and subscription IDs so we can turn Pro on or off.
- Technical data: like any website, our hosting provider automatically receives your IP address and basic browser information when you load the site, and may keep it in short-lived server logs for security and reliability.
How we use it
Only to run the service: signing you in, counting free tests, giving paid accounts unlimited tests, handling billing questions and keeping the site secure. We do not sell, rent or share your personal information for advertising, and we do not use it to train AI models.
Services we rely on
These providers process data on our behalf or when your browser loads content from them:
- Google for sign-in.
- Supabase to store accounts and plan information.
- Stripe to process payments.
- Netlify to host the website.
- YouTube / Google image servers, which supply the thumbnails and channel pictures of the example videos shown in the preview, and Google Fonts and jsDelivr, which supply fonts and code. Your browser contacts these directly, so they receive your IP address.
Each has its own privacy policy that governs its handling of your data.
Cookies and local storage
We don't use advertising or analytics cookies. We use your browser's local storage for your sign-in session, your daily free-test count, your last thumbnail and title, and your theme preference. These are needed for the site to work.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile and sign-in details within 30 days. Stripe keeps payment records as required by law.
Your choices and rights
You can sign out at any time, clear this site's data in your browser, and cancel a subscription through the "Manage subscription" link in your account menu. You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your account by emailing us at the address below. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California) you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honour them.
Children
PreviewThumbnail.com is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted HTTPS connections, account data is protected by access rules so each user can only read their own information, and payment details stay with Stripe. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
